DUPR Day Events restarting at Quail Creek Pickleball Club
The Quail Creek Pickleball DUPR Club now has 152 members and continues to grow.
To facilitate the growth of this new rating option, after a summer of heat and vacations, we are restarting monthly DUPR Days from 9-11 am on September 12th. We will host round robins across 4 skill levels from 2.5 to 4.0+. We’ll have anywhere from 1 to 4 courts for each skill level based on demand. We will enter scores from these matches into DUPR, so new players will have a preliminary rating within 24 hours of playing, and players with an existing rating will see their rating move up or down based on play that day.
Before playing in your first event, please sign up for a free DUPR account and join the Quail Creek Pickleball Club in DUPR. DUPR will ask you to pay for a premium account. You can ignore that and stay with the free account. Once you are signed up for DUPR, click on Clubs, find the Quail Creek Pickleball Club and request to join.
Sign up for DUPR Day in the Events section of CourtReserve starting on September 5th at 9pm. There will be a separate event for every skill level. If this is your first time playing DUPR, please self-rate and join the event that you believe fits your skillset the best. If you already have a DUPR rating, please join the event that aligns with your DUPR rating.
If you have questions, please contact Michael Myers at mtmyers68@gmail.com
What is DUPR?
DUPR stands for Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating. It’s a widely used rating system that assesses a player’s skill level based on match results, making it a dynamic, evolving rating system. DUPR aims to provide an accurate and consistent way to rate players. DUPR is to pickleball what GHIN is to golf.
Instead of testing for a rating, DUPR uses your match results and the relative strength of your partner and opponents to assign ratings. You will receive a rating after your first few matches, but the system will assign you a low confidence in your ratings until you get enough matches in the system. Your DUPR rating will change up or down after every time you play and submit scores.
DUPR is widely considered to be the most accurate rating system in pickleball. DUPR is modeled after the NTRP system used by the United States Tennis Association and the ELO system used in chess. DUPR is the official rating system for the PPA, MLP, and UPA pickleball tours and is currently used by more than 7,000 clubs across 158 countries.
What do you need to do to get a DUPR rating?
Join DUPR by going to www.dupr.com and creating an account. Use the same spelling of your first name and last name as reflected in CourtReserve. The basic DUPR account is free. There is an option to pay monthly for a more robust membership, but it is not necessary.
Your rating will be “NR” for Not Rated until you have matches in DUPR. Your rating will likely start in the 3.0-3.5 range until you have enough matches to get more accuracy. It will take several events for your rating to get accurate enough to have a 60% reliability score, which is the minimum DUPR recommends for league and tournament participation.
If you want your DUPR rating to start closer to your skill level, contact Karen Morse at morse99044@me.com. Karen is DUPR-certified to evaluate players and assign them a provisional rating. This is only necessary if you play in tournaments and don’t want your initial DUPR rating to impact your tournament level.
To enter a match in DUPR, all four players must have a DUPR account. Discuss and decide within your group(s) if you would like your events to be DUPR matches. If your group decides to use DUPR, please contact Michael Myers at mtmyers68@gmail.com for guidance on getting DUPR set up for your group.

QCPC GroupSpot
QCPC GroupSpot
The Quail Creek Pickleball Club has a GroupSpot site. This allows QCPC to post club announcements and easily schedule reminders. Members can decide how they want to receive notifications. QCPC can also send push notifications, in-app alerts, and emails for important messages.
QCPC will use GroupSpot to post announcements and reminders about new events (like MLPlay), special events (like the July 4th Event), and urgent notices (like wasps at the courts). It will also be used to send a single weekly reminder for established events (like organized play and player development).
QCPC members will still need to refer to CourtReserve for the most current event details and registration, as change is inevitable. We will also continue to post notices on the CourtReserve Announcements page.
QCPC will not be enabling or allowing Personal and Group chats on this GroupSpot site. We do not have the volunteer time to monitor chats. If you have questions, please respectfully direct them to qcpickleballclub@gmail.com.
To join, create a GroupSpot account or sign in to your existing account, and use the invite code to join. You must use your first and last name and phone number as it is on QCPC CourtReserve so we can check that you are a club member.
