QCPC GroupSpot
The Quail Creek Pickleball Club has created a GroupSpot site. This will allow QCPC to post club announcements and easily schedule reminders (text, email, in-app). Also, this is free for the club to do. (CourtReserve charges for extra emails and texts sent to members and does not easily allow for scheduled announcements and reminders.) Members can decide how they want to receive notifications (text, email, in-app).
QCPC will use GroupSpot to post announcements and reminders about new events (like Ladder Play), special events (like Picklepalooza), and urgent notices (like court closures due to wasps). It will not be used for established, recurring events (like organized play and player development) unless there is something new or different to notify members about. QCPC members will still need to refer to CourtReserve for the most current event details and registration.
Since we are using this application for club notifications, we will be removing the QCPC Facebook page. We do not want volunteers to have to monitor Facebook in addition to CourtReserve and GroupSpot. (We will still post Announcements on CourtReserve, but that does not allow for scheduled email and text notices to be sent out.)
QCPC will not be enabling or allowing Personal and Group chats on this GroupSpot site. We do not have the volunteer time to monitor chats. If you have questions you will need to direct them to qcpickleballclub@gmail.com
To join, create a GroupSpot account or sign in to your existing account, and use the invite code to join. You must use your first and last name and phone number as it is on QCPC CourtReserve so we can check that you are a club member.
https://web.groupspot.app/welcome
Invite Code: JgxWY3
Rules for this site:
You must be a member of QCPC. This is for official QCPC correspondence only. Personal and Group chats on this site will not be enabled or allowed. Questions can be sent to QCPC at qcpickleballclub@gmail.com.
QCPC hopes using Group Spot in this way will help to communicate about new and special events, and urgent notices, more directly and efficiently.

APRIL/MAY “Q-TIPS”
From Gary Quantz, your USA/PPR Certified Instructor
It's hard to believe my fifth season is coming to a close, with my final class scheduled for May 27th. This journey has brought me together with countless new and eager members who are excited to learn about this fascinating game, as well as veteran members who have continued to attend lessons and share enjoyable moments with me over the years. I’ve got the best retirement gig going and look forward to teaching again this coming Fall for the 2026/2027 season. I’ll have one more article to recap my season numbers and to say goodbye in May.
There is still time to take a lesson (or two) before my 5th season ends late May.
NEW! Now offering “Early Bird” private lessons every Tuesday and Friday at 6:45am for 60 minutes, focused on any pickleball skills you wish to improve. All other classes in April begin at 10am.
Q-TIP:
Playing back at the baseline to the transition zone, your paddle and stance should be low. This allows you to better protect yourself against shots hit at your feet. However, when you play up at the NVZ, your paddle is to be positioned at or above the net for quicker reaction time and more aggressive counter attacks. Your paddle should always be held out in front of the body and brought back to ready position after every shot regardless where you are on the court. You also need to be in a set, athletic stance, on the balls of your feet ready to move throughout the point. Don’t play this game standing still!
LESSONS:
Check our CourtReserve site under the Announcements tab and look for GQ Pickleball Classes to find the schedule for the remainder of my April classes and upcoming month of May.
Thank you to all who have joined my pickleball lessons over the past five seasons (2021–2026). Special congratulations to JOAN WICKSTROM for completing her 100th class with me on March 26th! I appreciate everyone's commitment and have truly enjoyed being part of your pickleball journey!

Thank you to Jerome Klein and Gary Bulger for helping past Treasurer Paul Hackbert and current Treasurer Victoria Vastalo with the QCPC Financial Audit. Jerome and Gary also provided QCPC with some valuable advice for financial best practices.
Volunteers like Jerome, Gary, Paul, and Victoria, who donate their time and expertise, are greatly appreciated!

Thank You and Welcome!
Thank you, Don Armour! Don retired from his Secretary position at the April Board meeting. Don was an invaluable member of our team and did a great job in the position. Don was a very insightful leader and his ideas were always well thought out.
Welcome, Gary deLassus! Following the bylaws, the Board voted to appoint Gary deLassus to the role of Secretary at the April Board meeting. Gary was scheduled to join the Board in September after he was elected at the Membership meeting. We are fortunate to have Gary on our team.
Want to Volunteer?
QCPC is always looking for great people to step up and volunteer their time to our club. We have many positions that require as little as an hour or two a month, all the way up to leadership positions that require as many as 10 hours a week.
We currently have an open Events Chairperson role. The Events Chairperson will work closely with the QCPC President to develop and implement a broad set of social, semi-competitive, and competitive events for all of our members, working with an Events team.
Please reach out to QCPC President Michael Myers at mtmyers68@gmail.com if you are interested in this position or if you would like to discuss other areas where you can give your time and make a difference.
Thank You Gift
Thank you, Judi Lynn Sorsen, for making a wonderful Pickleball Puzzle and donating it to the club!
QCPC framed it and presented it to Frank Baker for his volunteer work as Vice President and then President of the club. Frank steps in whenever and however needed, from working with the POA on club needs and projects to finishing the installation of the new fence guards. Thank you Frank! We look forward to your help on future projects and events!

Captain America Says
“Always Wear Protective Glasses!”
America Oujevolk, aka Captain America (retired USAF medical doctor), would like to send a not so gentle reminder to always wear protective glasses.
America was hit with a pickleball and sent this photo (after icing it many times, so the extent of the injury does not show as well as what it was initially). She commented, “my trusty sunglasses absorbed the force and dissipated it over the orbit … saving me from a blow to the eye and a retinal detachment. My pickleball glasses cost $29.99, so expense is not an excuse!”
Next Board Meeting
May 12th, 4:30pm
Silver Room
Note: Summer Board meetings (June through August) are optional. QCPC will plan on not having a meeting unless there is an urgent topic.
